A remote kit is wired at the fan, not at the wall switch.

1. Switch off the circuit at the breaker and confirm the fan is dead at the wall switch.
2. Remove the canopy cover at the ceiling to reach the wiring.
3. Connect the receiver between the house wiring and the fan wiring, matching by colour, following the printed diagram.
4. Secure the receiver inside the canopy so it is not pinched by the cover.
5. Restore power and pair the transmitter.

If you are not confident working at a ceiling outlet, have a licensed electrician fit it.

Work through these in order before assuming the unit has failed:

• Battery. Fit a fresh battery of the correct type. A weak battery is the most common cause.
• Battery contacts. Check for corrosion or a bent contact in the battery compartment.
• Wall switch. Confirm the wall switch is on — a remote kit does not bypass a switched outlet.
• Breaker. Confirm the circuit has power and the fan responds to a pull chain, if it has one.
• Pairing. Re-pair the transmitter to the receiver following the printed sequence.

If none of these restore control, contact us — the transmitter or the receiver may need replacing, and both are available separately.

A receiver that beeps has power and is receiving the signal, so the problem is on the output side. Check that the fan motor and light wires are seated correctly in the receiver terminals and that the correct wire pairs are matched. If the wiring is correct and the fan still does not turn, the receiver's output may have failed — a replacement receiver can be ordered on its own.

Yes. Most receivers keep their pairing in memory, but a long outage or a surge can clear it. Cut power at the breaker, restore it, then repeat the printed pairing sequence with the transmitter close to the fan.

Not automatically. Receivers are matched to a fan's motor type and light wiring, and kits are not interchangeable between all fan designs. Before ordering, send us a photo of your existing receiver, wall switch, or the wiring inside the canopy, together with your fan's make and model. We will confirm fitment.

No. The kit controls three fan speeds and the light, and does not support the fan's reverse function. Where your fan has a reverse switch on the motor housing, you continue to use that switch as before.

No. DC motor fans use a different controller and are not compatible with this receiver. The kit is designed for AC motor ceiling fans.

It fits a standard 4.5″ canopy. Measure yours before ordering — the receiver needs room to sit inside the canopy without being pinched by the cover.

It depends on the lamp. Incandescent and halogen lamps dim, as do LEDs and CFLs that are marked dimmable. Non-dimmable LED and CFL lamps will switch on and off, but will not dim. Check the marking on the lamp itself — "dimmable" is usually printed on the base or the packaging.

Yes — and it is worth doing before you start. Leave the fan's pull chain at the HIGH speed setting, and the light's pull chain at the ON setting. The receiver takes over from there, and speed is then controlled from the remote. This is how the kit is designed to work, not a fault.

A 9 V battery, which is not included in the box. The type is also printed on the product page for each kit and on the label inside the transmitter's battery compartment. Use the type stated there — fitting a different size will not make contact correctly.

If you are unsure about any step, stop and engage a licensed electrician. Do not use a receiver that shows signs of heat damage, scorching or a burnt smell.
